Bring your number with you
Transferring to Wizard takes a few details from your old carrier.
Keeping your number when you switch is called "porting," and it's the default way to join Wizard. You hand us a few details, we submit the transfer, and your number follows you — no one you know has to update a thing.
How porting works
Your phone number isn't owned by your old carrier — it's yours, and carriers are required to release it when you move. The port is the formal handoff: we request your number from your old carrier, they verify the request against their records, and the number goes live on your new Wizard line.
What we need from you
- Account number from your old carrier — where to find it
- Number Transfer PIN — how to get one
- Billing zip code — specifically for your permanent address
We'll also ask for your phone's IMEI — a 15-digit ID number unique to your device (dial *#06# to see it, or follow this guide). It tells the network exactly which phone to activate your service on.
The two rules of a smooth port
- Details must match exactly. A middle initial your old carrier has that you didn't give us, an old billing address, an expired PIN — small mismatches are the number one cause of delays.
- Don't cancel your old service. The port itself closes your old line when it completes. Cancelling early can cost you the number.
Most ports complete by the next business day — here's the full timeline. Rather skip all this? You can start fresh with a new number instead.
