My service is limited or slow

Restart and check carrier settings first. Data can also slow temporarily in crowded places after heavy monthly use.

Slow or limited data usually has a boring explanation and a quick fix. Here's how to tell what's going on and what to do about it.

First, the two-minute fixes

  1. Restart your phone. Yes, really — it clears more speed issues than anything else.
  2. Check for a carrier settings update. On Wi-Fi, go to Settings, General, About (Android: Settings, System, Software update) and install any prompt that appears. Why this matters, especially right after a switch.
  3. Toggle Airplane Mode on for 15 seconds and off, to grab a fresh connection to the nearest tower.

If it's slow in one place, at one time

Data can slow down temporarily in very crowded places — stadiums, festivals, busy downtown areas — when the network is congested. And if you've used a lot of data this month, your traffic can be briefly deprioritized during those crunches, meaning heavy users wait a beat while the tower is slammed. It bounces back on its own as soon as congestion clears; nothing on your account is broken and nothing needs fixing.

If it's slow everywhere, all the time

That's not congestion — something's off. A few things to check:

  • Signal strength: one bar indoors may just be a coverage dip; try near a window or outside.
  • Right line active: on dual-SIM phones, confirm your Wizard line is selected for cellular data in Settings, Cellular.
  • No Service entirely? Different problem — head to fixing No Service or SOS.

Still crawling after all that? Email us with your location and what speeds you're seeing, and we'll look at it from the network side.
